Eagles woefully mismanaged DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery injuries

No one is sure what Howie Roseman is doing anymore

Either Roseman is receiving bad info from the Eagles medical staff, or he’s holding out hope for the wrong reasons. Roseman’s Eagles are 1-3-1 on the season, which oddly enough gives them plenty of hope in the awful NFC East. That being said, Carson Wentz’s receiving corps has been abysmal given the injuries Philly has faced on a weekly basis. DeSean Jackson has missed three weeks. Alshon Jeffery has missed six.

Thankfully, the NFL’s new rules allow teams to place players on IR and remove them three weeks later, freeing up roster space for much-needed help at that position.

Of course, that rule is meaningless if the Eagles don’t use it.

Jeffery could’ve even been placed on PUP, in which he’d be free to miss six weeks and then return to the roster. Nope!

No one should question the severity of Jeffery and Jackson’s injuries

Jackson has a hamstring injury while Jeffery is dealing with a foot issue. Playing in the NFL is a grueling task, and in a season that’s already impacted by COVID-19 and didn’t have a training camp, fans getting angry at two players over the age of 30 for not playing through ailments makes next to no sense.

Jeffery was a key member of the Eagles Super Bowl run in 2018, and Jackson is a longtime fan favorite and deep threat for the franchise. How quickly do we forget? Neither player is the reason the Eagles are in this position. Poor drafting and roster mismanagement is.

Philadelphia is more talented than their record may suggest, but it’s about time some of the blame starts going to the front office and the sidelines, instead of the on-field product.
