Le’Veon Bell’s latest comments prove Jamal Adams is all talk

New York Jets, NFL, NFL Offseason

Le’Veon Bell doesn’t think Jamal Adams will play anywhere other than New York in 2020.

Jamal Adams appears to be doing everything in his power to force a trade away from the New York Jets, as he has already demanded a trade to one of eight potential contenders, including teams like the Cowboys, Ravens, and Seahawks, if the Jets don’t reward his standout play with a new contract. While Adams has created a large schism within Jets Nation, New York’s other elite player chimed in with his thoughts on the matter, and they are in support of the outspoken safety.

Running back Le’Veon Bell, who famously sat out the 2018 season due to a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, said that Adams will be a Jet for the 2020 season in a Hot 97 interview.

Le’Veon Bell thinks Jamal Adams will stay in New York.

Bell also claims that he supports Adams’ efforts to get a new contract.

“I think he’s in the same situation I was three years ago,” Bell said. He’s a young player. He’s been at the top of the game, playing at a high level and feels like, ‘Dang, I just want to get compensated.’ ”

Adams has only played three seasons, but he has been named a Pro Bowler and All-Pro the last two years. A first-team All-Pro last year, Adams recorded 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and one interception, establishing himself as one of the best safeties in the game, if not the outright best. The former No. 6 overall pick out of LSU is living up to the hype.

While the Jets have Marcus Maye and 2020 third-rounder Ashtyn Davis ready to step in in case Adams leaves, he is too important to the fabric of that defense and the power structure in the locker room to risk alienating or trading due to financial squabbles.

A small segment of Jets fans have turned on Adams after he expressed his very public desire to be sent elsewhere, but they may need to rethink that stance if he stays in New York. Hopefully these comments stir Joe Douglas out of whatever trance he has been in and motivate him to get a deal done.
